Design days are here, Dubai
Let’s talk about design !
Design has been around since ages, and by that we really mean ages. Right since early man times, people couldn’t resist expressing themselves, whether it was on walls of caves or in tattoos on their arms. Man has been deemed to be a social animal. More importantly, as humans we all have this innate desire to express ourselves, and what better canvas than the surreal, beautiful world.
Speaking of the beauty of creative expression; this is exactly what the event Design Days Dubai was all about. Held from 17th to 20th March, this event saw talents from all across the world gather to connect, a classic example of unity in diversity. For many centuries, Europe was the hub of art and design with its huge influences from social and cultural movements like Renaissance and Reformation. Today, we see an insurgent rise from the East with beautiful, expressive art that speaks volumes.
The event was under the patronage of, H.H Sheikh, Hamdan Bin Mohammed, Bin Rashid Al Maktourn, Crown Prince of Dubai and has witnessed enthusiastic design gurus from all over the world taking part and showcasing their work of excellence.
Here’s a sneak-peek into some shout-worthy works of art displayed at the event:
- Simplicity in design goes a long way; this chaise-longue will vouch for it. Intricate wood carvings alongside pretty, detailed cushions make this a sight for sore eyes.
- Abstracts make for great centerpieces or focus pieces in homes, if you’re an art-lover.
- This piece sees influences from Turkey, Middle East and makes for a great conversation starter. The fact that it’s jeweled is an added bonus.
The highlights of the event were many furniture pieces that attracted the maximum eye balls and words of pure appreciation and awe. But art in the Algerian Gallery, Art Factum Gallery, Ymer and Malt Tashkeel are among the many that stood out.
Will leave you in peace now .. and until the next round of the exhibition !!
